A 77-year-old school crossing guard was ordered to stop high-fiving kids, as this could be the gateway to sexually abusing them. In response, he has thrown in the towel.
Bryan Broom, a “lollipop man” (so-called not because he gave kids lollipops, but because crossing guards in Britain hold up circular stop signs on sticks), said he can’t stand the idea that merely being friendly to kids could be interpreted as skeevy. As the UK’s Mirror reports:
Bryan has revealed why he made the tough decision to quit doing the job he loved after almost two decades.
He said: “I used to high-five the kids until I was told it could be construed as grooming – that is what the council told me.
“It’s rather peculiar because two or three months ago there were pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge high-fiving at a school and I should have sent copies of those to the council.
His resignation was greeted with dismay by legions of kids and parents who appreciated his friendliness and didn’t equate kindness with perversion. Imagine that.
That’s absolutely barking as they’d say over there.

Are we going to trade all our liberty for security? If so, we’d deserve neither!
If a child falls in front of a car, don’t try to save them, you might be grooming them to live longer!

BS! Now we as adults are like “Stranger Child Danger” What is this world coming to? We have a senior who is giving community service but we are paranoid because he is nice to the kids and makes them feel special?

I honestly feel bad for the kids now that they have lost what appears to be a straight up nice guy.
Hell why doesn’t the government just take everyone’s kids put them in a secure facility and only allow supervised visits? If it saves one child, right? Rational basis, should past muster right?

Just when you think the USA has some of the most screwed up laws in any civilized nation, UK still manages to somehow beat us. It’s like people’s brains are shrinking. Must be from all of the chemicals in our environment, casually administered from the corporations that the politicians are in bed with. Where will we be 20-30 years from now?
